Before starting a business, make sure you love it

You must be passionate about your small business.

You must be passionate about your small business.

A lot of us do jobs that we aren't particularly fond of, but we do them because they pay well, offer good benefits or could serve as a good stepping stone for a better future opportunity. It's possible to have a successful career working at a place you don't really like or even in an industry you aren't all that interested in. It's not ideal, but it's possible. That is not the case if you're starting your own company.

Going into business for yourself is all about passion. If you don't love whatever it is you are going to do, it's likely not going to work out. You might have the most brilliant business plan, but it won't matter if you don't have the desire to put your blood, sweat and tears into making it work.

Omar Mamoon started a cookie dough company called Dough & Co. two years ago and in that time his business has grown to be quite successful. He shared his experiences and gave tips to aspiring entrepreneurs in a recent Huffington Post article where he said passion is the most important aspect of starting a business.

"You've heard it from your parents, your teachers, Steve Jobs," Mamoon writes. "You're going to spend more time on your business than you do on anything else in life, so you may was well enjoy the work you do. That blog you read or thing you do while you procrastinate? Pay attention to it–there's something there. For me, it was food."

If you believe that your passion is worth pursuing as a business and you want to spend your life devoted to this one area, go for it. Before you do, make sure you understand the importance of incorporating your business, as well as how to incorporate. This will set you on the right path towards making your passion a reality.
